Pacific Digital U-30297 is a good product that performs most basic functions; however, their customer support team is by far one of the worst that we have encountered.
This DVD burner is very fast. Though we do not know how fast it can burn a DVD with a dual layer disk, Pacific Digital does not list those specifications anywhere on their site or in their documentation. This burner also does not support DVD-RAM disks. The external DVD burner U-30297 has most of the features that you need for DVD burning but is missing the ability to connect via firewire or play DVD-RAM and CD+G disks.
We really got the run around when we tried to contact technical support. First, we sent an email and did not receive a reply. Secondly, we called the technical support phone number but when they answered the phone, they put us on hold and then the phone hung up. As a last resort, we called the sales department and we got an answering machine, the second time we called sales they transferred us to technical support and the phone hung up. We never received answers to our questions. In conclusion, the only help we could find were FAQs and a searchable knowledge base online, but making contact with anyone, we found impossible.
Pacific Digital is a good burner, but if you need technical support for this product - get ready to jump through hoops.
