The Memorex 32023288 will let you use either a USB or a firewire port to connect to a computer and does perform dual layer burning, but only with DVD+R DL disks.

A few features that are missing from this burner are the ability to read the following types of disks: DVD-RAM, DVD-R DL, CD-ROM XA, CD-TEXT, CD+, CD-I and CD-Extra. On the up side this burner does come with some software that will let you burn CDs, read DVDs, create disk labels and backup data.

There are a few areas that the speed is a little slower than the competition. When using the DVD+R Dual Layer disk you are only able to burn a DVD at 4x instead of 8x and you can rewrite at 24x instead of 32x like some of the other drives.

In terms of product support we emailed Memorex and never received a response, we had to call them. The number that they provide will help you if you are having problems with the burner and they post some information online. It would be nice if they offered live chat.

Overall, Memorex Model: 32023288 will burn your DVDs and CDs as long as you use the correct format of disk. It is a bit slower than other drives, but will get the job done.
