IOMega Super DVD 16x16 external DVD burner is a pretty good product, but we had a hard time finding out exactly what kind of discs it can support and it cannot connect to a computer via firewire.

We asked the company if their drive would support CD-ROM XA, CD-TEXT, CD+G, CD-I, CD-DA, CD-Extra, Photo-CD and Video-CD disks. Even thought the company did everything they could to answer our questions, they simply did not know. So if you are looking to use this product to play any of these disks, then we suggest you think twice about this DVD burner, since we cannot be sure whether those formats are supported or not.

As far as the speed of this DVD burner is concerned, this product is slower when you are using a DVD+R DL or a CD-RW disk and using a DVD-RAM and DVD-R DL disk is out of the question since this burner does not support them. Using all of the other types of media, this burner competes with the best.

The support of IOMega is excellent, they responded to our email within a few hours. We also had some other questions that we asked through their live chat feature and the operator responded quickly. Contacting IOMega is simple and they were quite honest with us about not being able to answer some of our questions.

On the whole, IOMega Super DVD 16x16 is a good external DVD burner, it is shy as far as dual layer DVD burning is concerned, but it works well with DVD+/-RW, DVD+/-R and CD-R disks.
