Fantom Drives model FDDRWU2P16SD is an average external DVD burner that includes most of the basic features such as the ability to read DVD-RAM, DVD-R DL and CD+G disks. However, the speed of the drive is lacking and product support is non-existent.

This burner will perform at the same speeds as higher end drives when reading your DVDs/CDs and writing once to DVD+/-R or CD-R disks. However, when you choose to rewrite to a DVD then the speed is almost cut in half and writing to the DVD+R DL format is only at 4x, unlike the 8x speeds of other drives. In addition, the only way to connect this burner to a computer is through a USB port, firewire is not an option.

We tried to contact Fantom Drives several times with no luck. We sent emails and when that did not work, we looked for a contact phone number, but we could not find one. Therefore, our questions remain unanswered.
